When the holy month of Ramadan approaches especially in our part of the world, the prices of commodities shoot up and it nearly touches the sky with the entire hike in the price. It makes life extremely difficult for people who are on daily wages to make ends meet.

While western countries offer sale on the merchandises in the month of Ramadan, Pakistan doubles the prices as most of vendors say ‘Yay kamanay ka season hai (This is a season to earn)’ but they forget that this month is exclusively for earning good deeds and perhaps they misinterpret it with their business.

Having said that, designers are no different as they have introduced their lawn brands with prices starting from Rs. 14,500/-. It is pertinent to mention here that the last time these prices were started from Rs. 9,800/-, a rise of whopping Rs 4,700/- in just one year.

Subsequently, there are plenty of ‘copy paste status update’ are floating on various social media platforms regarding the price hike in the lawn brands. Women, in particular, are campaigning to boycott the purchase of expensive lawn brands this year. The status that is making rounds especially on Facebook reads:

“I agree, let’s copy and paste, let’s boycott

Spending 14500 rupees for a single lawn dress on the name of EID COLLECTION like Zainab Chottani or Mina Hassaan this is truly insane. I bet next year they’ll start their prices from 21500 as last year Eid collection started with 9800. May b they believe we all belong to the family of ‪#‎MrIshaqDar‬.

It’s high time to let these designers realize that our men are struggling hard for us and we respect and care the halal earning of our husband, father or any other care taker. Raise your voice…

Share and Boycott such Eid Collections after all we belong to a Deen that promotes simplicity and Balance. Though 15000 is not a big amount for most of us but do remember some people work 24/7 to get one big note of 5000/- which they manage for the rest 30 Days.

Let’s create some Difference This Eid!

Share & Care”

This is indeed a bold step. One wise man regarding the price hikes once stated to cease the purchase for 3 days to see massive and drastic changes in the price later. There is a lot of power in the voice of women in Pakistan and considering unnecessary price hikes, they might end up getting successful in their campaign.

Moreover, it is encouraging and motivating for the fathers, husbands, brothers or any other care taker that women finally understood the superfluous climbs in the prices of lawn brands and that they care about all the hard work that men do to earn some bucks. Hopefully this will also made lawn brands realize to charge substantial amount and it would be important to see if they will come up with revised prices.
